On line Printing workshop with Jeanette Gilks

MAKE YOUR MARK: TAKE IT AS RED!
Date  : Saturday 06 February 2021 at 10h00
Where:  Tatham Art Gallery web site:
Course Fee:  Free

This will be a fun on line printing session where I will run through the principles of reverse mono-printing, monotype printing and object printing.
All children above 7 and adults welcome. Young children will need some adult supervision.
Should you be interested and wish to prepare for this printing session before hand, consider this:
Imagine the whole Dynasty of Red! All the Reds in this vast family
- any colour that contains red, from baby pinks, old rose to neon pinks and deep maroons, from neutral terra-cotta browns to flaming orange.  Yes, all the tints and tones of this amazing colour!
Now choose your materials from either one or both of the following groups:

  • Papers: 80g is perfect. This is photocopying paper.

  • Fabric: Plain calico, cotton, polyester cotton, light weight denim and canvas, silk and satin. Nothing with a coarse weave or texture, or material that is too thick.

You can also view this direct at YouTube

Essential additional materials

  • small rubber hand roller (brayer) 5 – 10 cm or a sponge roller (from hardware, cheaper but less effective)

  • water based printing ink; black and/or red

  • A 4 piece of glass or Perspex sheet,

  • pencils and any colour ball point pens.

We will be working on A5 format.  If you are keen, try and stain or dye your own papers with mud or ink or an old tea bag, and then dry your papers flat between newspaper and a heavy book.
