CLASSICAL MASTERPIECES
CHRISTOPHER Duigan (piano)
For a classical piano recital in Music Revival's 20th year, Steinway pianist, Christopher Duigan, plays an engaging programme of his classical masterpieces. These iconic compositions have formed a major part of his repertoire over the past 20 years under the banner of Music Revival. Music Revival, established in October 1997, has grown from a series of small intimate concerts to an illustrious and highly regarded series of more than 100 concerts annually presented across SA, from home soirees to major festivals and symphony concerts. Principal works in Duigan’s performance include JS Bach.s 'Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring' and 'Sheep May Sagely Graze" together with Robert Schumann's 'Kreisleriana' , one of composer's most enigmatic and fleeting compositions. The second part of the programme features music by Maurice Ravel, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Alexander Scriabin, his Nocturne Op 9. The last work is said to be one of the composer’s most beguiling compositions, written for the left-hand alone.
